Kansas City’s convention center filled with 750 retirees and workers fighting to stop proposed cuts to their pensions, in many cases by half or more. The Central States Pension Fund said it must cut benefits now to avoid collapse. The proposal is the first test of a controversial 2014 pension law that also is under attack.
