About a week ago, I posted a small collection of links to articles about why we all shouldn’t be panicking about the Fukushima nuclear accident. Since then, a few more great articles have appeared.
Here are a few links about the role of the anti-nuclear lobby in shaping the fear-inducing reports we’ve been seeing in English language media:
* The unpalatable truth is that the anti-nuclear lobby has misled us all (George Monbiot) – “I’ve discovered that when the facts don’t suit them, the movement resorts to the follies of cover-up they usually denounce.”
* I’m ashamed for my profession (Ivo Vegter) – “The media’s reporting of the nuclear accident at Fukushima goes well beyond mere sensationalism. It sacrifices the calm assessment of fact and reason to populist hysteria and a radical green agenda.”
* Japanese Public Authorities Avoiding Grim Technical Details, Except the New York Times Isn’t Sure Which Details (Flyjin.com) – Commentary on vague claims the international press makes about the Japanese authorities and Japanese media “avoiding” details that might scare people.
And here’s an article about the irrational fear of nuclear power:
* Fear of nuclear power is out of all proportion to the actual risks (Dr. Melanie Windridge) – “Pollution from coal-fired power plants is responsible for more than 100,000 deaths per year, whereas the crisis at the Fukushima nuclear plant is unlikely to kill a single person.”

Los EE.UU. recomiendan la evacuación a 50 millas, peeeero ellos no tienen ni idea de lo que está pasando y no les molestamos cuando el accidente de TMI, así que a callar. Ayer nivel 7 oficial
