Hace tiempo que me abrí una cuenta en Meneamé con este nick porque me gusta como suena. Lo que la gente no sabe es que el nombre Maemo fue creado por un español (o mejor dicho por su ordenador) al que tengo el gusto de conocer personalmente, Jesús Climent. Aquí dejo un extracto de una newsletter interna de Nokia:
Little history facts:
1) word "maemo" had been born not in heads but in command-line tool
back in 2003, after yet another fruitless meeting with attempt to brainstorm name based on human efforts (they got some list but it was in the air it was all wrong), Jesus Clement (now works for Google in Ireland) used classical sysadmin tool named "passgen" to generate bunch of (cryptic yet relatively easy to remember) words. One of them had been picked up - yes, "maemo". First runs against all known trademark and registered names DBs confirmed: all words but maemo had not passed check.
May be (just may be) we shall hire less product managers but use free tools instead - at least for new trademarkable names I mean ?
2) for someone "maemo" might sound Finnish but...
... due to simple coincidence, in Ukrainian (and AFAIK in several other Slavonic languages) it is normal common word "маємо" (cyrillic, in Latin it is exactly maemo) which means *(we) have* i.e. "verb to show that we posess/own something as group of people". I do not think that Jesus had some bias towards ukrainian anything - it is just mere coincindence
